Ithemba E-Hailing Association Takes Stand Against Unfair Regulations
Members of the Ithemba E-Hailing Association are gearing up for a crucial meeting with the Director-General of National Transport on March 23 at 11h00 am. The meeting, set to take place in the DG's boardroom in Pretoria, comes as the association continues to challenge new regulations introduced by the National Department of Transport and Industry.
The regulations, which came into effect in March 2026, have been deemed "unfair and one-sided" by the association. With many owners and drivers facing impoundment for non-compliance, Ithemba E-Hailing Association is pushing for a more feasible approach.
"We're going to reason with the DG, tell them these laws must be made easy and accessible," said an IThemba spokesperson. "The grace period was too short, and some regulations are just not feasible to attain in such a short space of time."
Association members are urged to join hands and show solidarity as they meet with the DG. The outcome of the meeting could bring relief to thousands of e-hailing operators facing financial strain. 🚗
